At FitByKam, the approach is centred on empowering you with knowledge, understanding and confidence in your bike fit, running form, training, and overall process towards achieving your goals. Your progress is the sum of many contributing parts!

The aim is to ensure you have an understanding of all the factors that help you improve, going beyond just the technical stats and data. I’ll unravel the ’whys’ and ‘wherefores’ behind these aspects, helping to simplify the complex parts of the journey and make it accessible to all! The process in all the services is both informative and technical!

The world of cycling, running and triathlon can sometimes feel overwhelming and daunting, especially for anyone just starting out. It’s also equally challenging for those looking to take their journey and performance to the next level. How do you go about it? What are the key difference makers and which are most relevant to you? Where do you invest your training time and budget? How do you piece it all together and balance working towards your goals with work and life? These are just some of the questions that circulate in our minds. When we’re working together, I encourage you to ask questions, discuss your worries, and to actively engage in your own development so that you grow in confidence as well as fitness and readiness to achieve your aims.   

Bike fitting, running analysis and coaching are bespoke and tailored to you. Sessions include key physical, gear and kit assessments to understand the full picture and provide holistic advice, so we make the right adjustments, while also taking the time to understand your unique needs and goals for a comprehensive approach.

As a biomechanics specialist, bike fitter, run analyst, Ironman certified triathlon coach, and certified cycling and running coach, expertise in all these areas enables a joined-up view of the factors that contribute to your progression. I’ll explain the science and reasoning behind the guidance, so you participate in the process.  The goal is to transfer the knowledge to you, so you approach your training and performance from an informed perspective.

Our bodies are not simple mathematical equations that can be solved by plugging in numbers.  Each of us is unique, with our own set of specific needs, strengths and limitations.

Calculators, algorithms, forums, tutorials… yes… they’re all out there… and tempting us with a quick fix to solving our bike fit and running form. But there's so much more to consider beyond the narrow view of numbers and generic advice. They fail to capture the nuances that make you, well...you. And although sometimes only slight, these nuances make big differences in how adjustments should be personalised.

The same is true of mass-produced, off-the-shelf training plans. They may seem convenient, but they can’t account for the unique variations and individuality that we all have as starting points and in the way we react to different forms of training, both physically and mentally. They’re not designed around your life and they won’t be on hand to advise and reassure you if you have a setback, or at times when you have to juggle your training around other commitments. You'll always have questions and doubts about whether you're truly doing what's best for you.

That’s why spending the time understanding and personalising all the options available for you and your specific needs is where the real magic is. It’s the key to providing the honest and impartial guidance that will take you onwards in your journey.

I work with the full spectrum of the continuum - absolute beginners right through to the experienced racers. No matter your starting point, we’ll work together so you know how best to move forward.

My Journey

As a long-time cyclist, runner and triathlete myself, my own endurance-sports background has seen me compete in a multitude of different events: 

  • Qualification for the GB Age-Group team 🇬🇧

  • Triathlons and duathlons, including both long and short-course, and road and off-road racing

  • Cycling time trials

  • Ultra endurance rides

  • European tours

  • Road, trail and cross-country running events and races

  • I’ve also ‘Everested’ on my bike, which involves climbing the height of Mt. Everest in one continuous ride, and recently ran up Alpe d’Huez 🏔

But, I was also a beginner myself! Everyone who achieves anything begins somewhere! I know the challenges and uncertainties that come with getting started as much as I know the options and actions available to enhance performance. I also know what it's like to balance endurance goals with everyday life and work.

Even more importantly, although personal achievement and experience of course broadens the scope of knowledge and understanding, it’s what I’ve helped others achieve that’s truly reflective of the effectiveness of the services offered here at FitByKam. Working with complete beginners to advanced athletes, it’s been amazing to see how people have gone on to achieve and exceed their goals with the right focus on the right areas, as well as learn so much about the process and journey along the way. A key thing I’ve learned from my own experiences as well as working with others on their journeys, is that where you are now does not determine where you can get to!

It’s more than just the events we complete - the path to these accomplishments is equally as thrilling and challenging! Embrace and enjoy the journey.  When you cross those finish lines, it’s the result of everything that took you there!
